The Library at Wormsley has kindly offered The Stationers’ a rare opportunity to visit what is possibly the finest private collection of books and manuscripts in the country.

Sir Paul Getty spent twenty-five years assembling an extraordinary library of illuminated manuscripts, early printed books, historic bookbindings, and later illustrated books and calligraphic manuscripts, along with drawings and paintings. Highlights include rich and vivid medieval illuminated manuscripts dating from the 12th to the 15th centuries such as the first edition of Caxton’s printing of The Canterbury Tales; Anne Boleyn’s Psalter and the first folio of Shakespeare’s Comedies, Histories and Tragedies.

The collection is housed in a splendid castellated extension to the main house at Wormsley, Buckinghamshire in the beautiful Chiltern Hills.

This is a Library visit only, the house and grounds are not open to the public.

There are only 28  places available for this exclusive tour, so book early to avoid disappointment.

Wormsley is a five minute drive from Junction 5 on the M40 (parking is available). The nearest railway station is High Wycombe with a regular service from London Marylebone.  A Taxi service is available from the station.

The tour starts at 12.00 pm. More details about where to meet will follow after successfully booking.
