Richard Johnson ‘Bubble’ Service at St Bride’s and Members’ Lunch. An uplifting service followed by the chance to meet old friends and new.
For many this occasion is one of the most special in the Company calendar. The Richard Johnson Service, known as the ‘Bubble Service’, at St Bride’s Church, Fleet Street is followed by a lunch with the Court. At this lunch, we celebrate our association with the Royal Marines Corps by awarding three Stationers' trophies.
The service will begin at 11.30 am at St Bride’s Church, Fleet Street. You are requested to be seated by 11.15 am. The preacher this year will be announced in due course. The preacher will, as requested by Richard Johnson in his Last Will & Testament, take on the topic of Vita Humana Bulla Est (Life is a Bubble) for the sermon. The music at the Bubble Service, provided by the excellent choir of St Bride’s, is always wonderful and features, amongst more sacred anthems, the popular 'I’m forever blowing bubbles'.
Following the service, pre-lunch drinks will be served in our Stationers' Hall garden (weather permitting) from 12.30 pm to 1.00 pm. Lunch will consist of a three-course meal with wines and coffee, and should finish by 2.45 pm.
Places will be given on a first come, first served basis. We will inform you once this event is fully booked.
